Weakly hereditary regular closure operators
Abstract: We present characterizations of subcategories inducing
weakly hereditary regular closure operators. These characterizations
are applicable, in particular, to the category Top of topological spaces
and continuous maps and to abelian categories. Weakly hereditary
regular closure operators, in Top and in abelian categories satisfying
some conditions, are shown to correspond to disconnectednesses and torsion-free
subcategories, respectively.
