Uniform and Hölder approximation
Many results that appear in dealing with best Chebyshev approximation by algebraic or trigonometric polynomials have been extended to Hölder polynomial approximation. However it is clear that uniform convergence is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for Hölder approximation. We present different requirements that assert Hölder convergence from the uniform one. Applications of these new concepts are presented.
