Except maybe seeing HHF DNF. But today we were dominant and Ferrari were nowhere. Of course this isn't qualifying but seeing Michael's troubled face gives me a good feeling about this one. Patrick was back to giving me those admiring looks again as I talked in the garage about Williams being back to their dominant ways. HHF had print outs of the timings and had highlighted himself at the top and left copies all over the motorhome for Frank to find. I think I prefer him when he gibbers. You wouldn't find me being such a sad case. Frank recognises my true inner genius. And I have him on the circulation list for my press releases just to ensure he does. After all, he's so positive about my services for next year he's almost blase about sitting down to do the paperwork. Which left me plenty of time to joke with Damon about where he's going next year but I think he must have misheard me as he put a hand on my shoulder and said 'Remember Monza last year?' I fail to see what tyre walls have to do with contracts and was just about to say so to Craig but he was hurrying up the steps to Frank's motorhome. Saturday, 6 September 1997 It's not that HHF is a tosser that annoys me - its that he's a useless tosser. Why couldn't he have been a useful one and blocked the laps of Fisichella, Alesi or Michael instead of some bloke down in 14th? Doesn't he realise he's only here to offset my genius into sharp relief? Oh and those German engines of course. As it was things just didn't click right during qualifying but this doesn't matter so much when I see Michael down in 9th. For sure Eddie will probably take him out at the first chicane. But I'm just going to have to use those dazzling racing skills I've showed so much of this year in order to take this race. It's just a shame Stallone won't be filming here tomorrow to see it. I didn't get to meet him earlier due to a slight mix up when Bernie thought I wasn't in the garage and told Stallone 'There's nobody famous here, let me introduce you to Michael and Damon'. Sunday, 7 September 1997 This race would have been mine for sure if the pit crew had worked a little faster. They'll just have to practice more. I'm sure they did a better job for HHF as he was on the podium. And I'll have to have a word with Renault about my lack of horsepower. There's no other way to explain my being stuck for the race behind Fisichella. Still, at least I've pulled a point back on Michael. HHF came back to the garage happily clutching his trophy and saying how it'll match the one the won at Spa. As Patrick totted up the constructors points at the debrief HHF leaned over and said to me 'The way your coming storming back at Michael you should be ahead of him in the points by...oooooh... South America next year'. For sure he won't be so cocky after I've had a work with Frank about making him the No 2 he so obviously is. I'm sure Frank will see the reasonableness of this. He has to.
