I like this place - Germany but not quite. And I beat Michael here last year. This time its just me and him. Mano a mano, like, stuff, you know. I spent the preceding week doing 'happening' things with my 'with it' friends and have arrived here ready for the challenge. HHF keeps talking crap about not disappointing his public and I pointed out the sea of red Michael fans and said 'what fans?'. He claims his fans all prefer to watch races on TV. Just so long as he remembers his position as my (very) lowly No 2 I don't care what dream world he inhabits. The McLarens are looking good but they're not involved in the mano stuff so I don't really mind letting them win this one. Ferrari aren't looking so good and for sure that sets me up great for the weekend. Michael struggling and Eddie as far back down the field as possible. Brilliant. Saturday, 27 September I'm on the front row of the grid. For sure Mika is on pole but that's an irrelevancy. Michael is 5th. I am the mano. I have explained to HHF what his role at the start of the race is and although he looked less than willing to play his part he'll have to do it. I'll tell Frank if he doesn't. Everybody says I'm going to Prost so I went to check with Craig. I found him in the Dorint Hotel up a step ladder with a magnifying glass checking that I wasn't lurking unlicensed in a group shot. He explained that now that all the other top drivers were signed and all the tops seats taken he now had Frank over a barrell and that shortly he would have the delight of signing me up at Williams for another year at the same stunning salary as this year and that we should go out and celebrate this coup as soon as the race weekend was over. Until then he said he'd be a bit busy propelling a young CART driver up the same ladder of success. Sunday, 28 September My car decided to give up during the outlap of morning practice but I'm not worried. For sure this was a fine opportunity to put Jacques' Masterplan into action. I sought out the Jordan garage and every time Ralf hove into view I started talking about how he was the No 3 Ferrari driver and his brother's lackey. I'm not sure what a lackey is but it sounds good. On the grid I was feeling in control. I was still feeling in control as Coulthards car streaked past. That dodgy traction control for sure gives them McLarens good starts. As I moved across the track to take my line into the corner I found it was occupied by HHF who, contrary to team orders, did not slam on his brakes and let me through but actually banged wheels with me! But then Ralf fell for my Masterplan and took Michael off. No doubt getting his team mate too was a bonus to Ralf. As I watched Michael limp into the pits to retire on the large screen I felt sure I was going to have a good race. For sure both McLarens exploding was unexpected but it was only right that the 10 points should go to me as a WC challenger. Next stop Suzuka and maybe this time I'll get that wet weather race so that I can display my dazzling wet driving skills on the way to picking up the WC crown. ------------------------------- Find Aliens Beaming Up JV's Secret Diaries at... http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~mbyrne/ Now with updated weirdie links section
