From Classical to Modern Analysis II

Description:

This gathering marks the second edition of From Classical to Modern Analysis, a conference whose origins can be traced to its inaugural role as a satellite event of the European Mathematical Congress held in Seville in 2024, dedicated to the memory of the distinguished Portuguese mathematician José Carlos Petronilho. Conceived from the outset as a biennial meeting, the series was never intended merely as another occasion for scholars to assemble, but rather as a forum where intellectual horizons might be broadened, where the dialogue between generations and traditions could take place naturally, and where fresh collaborations might find their earliest roots.

The very word Analysis is here invoked in its most ample and generous sense, encompassing a vast spectrum of themes, techniques, and perspectives that together shape one of the most vibrant domains of contemporary mathematics. Yet our ambition extends beyond the conventional sequence of lectures and communications. We aspire to create an atmosphere that is both dynamic and welcoming: a space in which rigorous scientific discourse coexists with openness of spirit, and where the pursuit of knowledge is inseparable from the cultivation of community.

In this light, From Classical to Modern Analysis seeks to nurture an intellectual landscape where the enduring traditions of classical analysis engage in living conversation with the most modern developments, fostering a shared sense of curiosity, ambition, and - above all - the conviction that mathematics flourishes when pursued together.
