Stellar spots have been detected on stars other than the Sun. In particular, magnetic active stars show spots at high latitudes and even polar spots. We present some preliminary results on the influence of these polar spots on the topology of the coronal field and its influence on the stellar spin down rate. We find that magnetic flux concentration at the poles does not directly lead to lower braking rates. However, if this is accompanied with more field complexity, then there will be less opened field regions from where the wind can blow and therefore less magnetic braking.
