Greetings from the Great White North!
This is for all out there who have tried to use the Pentax Ext. Cord 5P 1.5m
and found that it is still too short for off camera flash work! I was
reading the manual to the MZ-5 and saw listings for new accesories. Besides
the MZ-5's AA grip, there were two NEW hot shoe adapters and one cord.
They are listed as such; (1)Hot Shoe Adapter Fg (notice the "g"), (2)Off
Camera Shoe Adapter Fg, and (3)Ext. Cord 5P (L). #1 is the same idea as the
origional Hot Shoe Adapter F but the cord socket run out of the top for use
on the new MZ-5/ZX-5 (this is because the flash shoe is BACK on the top of
the pentaprism and when the "Pop-Up" flash is used you can still run an
external flash at the same time using the cord). #2 is a little bit more
fascinating. It's identical to Hot Shoe Adapter F, however, it has a 1/4"
tripod socket in the bottom so you can mount that end on a lightstand or
tripod!. #3 is my favorite! This is a new cord that is a total 2.9 meters
in length and it's NOT coiled so you can utilized the entire length!
My information is acurate to the point where I have seen all three first
hand and have already purchased #2 & #3. All three are available in Canada
as my camera store now has them as regular stock. As for the origional
pieces, everything is interchangable so that you don't have to buy all new
cords. You can just add to your existing accesories.

D. Sutherland

PS. The Ext. Cord 5P 1.5m mentioned at the begining is now DISCONTINUED!
The new cord replaces it.
