O que é uma "mailing list"

Uma "mailing list" ou lista de um "LISTSERV" ou um "MAJORDOMO" é um grupo de distribuição automática de mensagens electrónicas: se alguém enviar uma mensagem para o endereço electrónico de uma lista de um LISTSERV, este redistribui automaticamente a mensagem para todos os subscritores da lista. Normalmente cada lista é relativa um certo tema, de modo que os subscritores se agrupam facilmente em funçõo dos seus interesses comuns.

REGRAS de CONDUTA para participar em listas electronicas

1. When replying use the same subject line unless you really do change the
subject. This will help the archives keep related postings together.

2. When replying, do quote some of the message you are replying to so that
context is established. However, it is seldom necessary to quote the whole
thing. This is especially true when someone else is replying to a reply.
Let's be nice to everyones in-box.

3. Watch the reply button. Make sure that you are not sending a private
message to the list. Some mailers are quite opaque on what they do, so ask
a local guru for help if you have concerns.

4. If you think your message will only be of interest to the original
poster, then send it just to that individual. Don't bother the whole list.

5. If your wordprocessor produces html output, don't send that to the list.
